When most people think of migraines they automatically think of headaches that are really bad. While the vast majority of migraines involve severe headaches, there are some migraines that don’t involve a headache. These are called migraine without headaches.

It’s true that most migraines are really bad headaches that cause a person to stop whatever they’re doing. These people have to lie down in a quiet room with all the lights off. The pain in their head is so severe that they can’t do anything but lie still and wait for the pain to subside.

There are actually two major types of migraine headaches. There are migraines with aura and migraines without aura. Migraines with aura are those migraines that are accompanied by sensations such as visions or feeling numb in one or more parts of the body. While there are many medications that can treat the pain associated with a migraine headache, there is yet to be any medication that will stop the aura that accompanies these migraines.

In some instances, a migraine with aura will have a sensation but not a headache. This is when a person experiences a migraine without headaches.

A migraine without headaches can be very scary because people don’t really realize what’s happening to them when they experience this. Many people who experience a migraine without a headache fear that they are having a stroke. Others fear that something is happening that is causing them to permanently lose feeling in one or more areas of their body. Still others fear that they are going blind. And, since this is so rare, it often takes some time before doctors can figure out exactly what’s going on with a person who suffers from migraines with aura but doesn’t have a headache.

A migraine without headaches is very rare. It’s actually a type of migraine with aura that simply isn’t accompanied by a headache. Though this is rare, it certainly does happen to some people. When it does it can be very difficult to identify what truly is happening to a person.

For some women migraines and pregnancy go hand in hand. Women who normally get migraines continue to experience these migraines even when they’re pregnant, and some women who don’t normally get migraines begin to experience them because of the change in hormones when they are pregnant. Here is a look at the best way pregnant women can deal with migraines.

It needs to be stressed that no medications should be taken to help with migraines during pregnancy until a physician is consulted. A pregnant woman has to make sure that everything she puts in her body is okay for her health and the health of her unborn baby. There are some pain relievers that can safely be taken to relieve migraine headaches, but every pregnant woman must first get permission from her doctor.

Migraines and pregnancy are not a good mix because every precaution has to be taken to keep the mother and the baby healthy. Since most (if not all) medications aren’t an option, there are some treatments that can be tried during pregnancy. These treatments include placing a cold compress on the head, taking a cold shower, taking a nap, and trying a relaxing technique such as yoga.

The best way to deal with migraines and pregnancy is to try to prevent the migraines from happening in the first place. There are many different potential causes of migraines. Some of the most common are chocolate, caffeine, a change in sleeping patterns, stress, and cheese. To find out the cause of a migraine a diary can be kept. If the trigger for the migraine can be found then once that trigger is eliminated the migraine headache will no longer be a problem.

Migraines and pregnancy are not a good combination. However, there are ways for making a bad situation much better or even eliminating the situation all together. Finding effective relief for the migraine or finding the cause of the migraine can help pregnant women deal with migraine headaches.

If you suffer from migraines then you know just how painful it can be. You also know how migraines can take over your life and stop you from living when they strike. To get relief from migraines you need to figure out what causes your migraine headaches and then you need to avoid that trigger. To help you figure out what might be causing your own headaches, here’s a look at some of the most common causes of migraines.

Hormonal Changes

While the exact relationship isn’t known, a change in estrogen levels seems to trigger migraines in some women.

Food

Certain types of foods cause migraines in some people. The most common food triggers are red wine, beer, caffeine, chocolate, and processed foods, such as those that contain nitrates (hotdogs and certain lunchmeats) and MSG (monosodium glutamate). Aspartame, used to sweeten beverages, has been linked to migraines. Also, skipping a meal can cause migraines as well.

Stress

Extended periods of extreme stress can also be the cause of migraines.

Sensory Stimuli

Another one of the many causes of migraines is sensory stimuli. Flashing lights, loud noises, or strong scents have been known to cause migraines.

Changes in Sleep Patterns

Going from sleeping at night to sleeping during the day or vice versa can trigger a migraine headache. Migraines can also be triggered by either too much or too little sleep.

Physical Exertion

Sudden periods of exercise can cause migraines in people.

Medication

Almost any medication can cause migraine headaches. It all depends on the medication and your body’s reaction to that medication. If you recently started a medication (or stopped) and you get a migraine then the medication could very well be the cause.

Caffeine

Too much, or sudden withdrawal from, caffeine, can trigger a migraine.

Weather

Changes in weather conditions such as quick temperature or barometric pressure changes can bring on a migraine.

As the medical community continues to gain a better understanding of the causes of migraines, the list of triggers will most likely continue to grow. For now, some of the most common causes of migraines are hormonal changes, food, stress, sensory stimuli, a change in sleep patterns, physical exertion, caffeine, weather changes, and medication. If you suffer from migraines then you should first look at these common causes as the cause of your own migraines. When you find the cause you can then prevent future migraine headaches.

Just like not all migraines are caused by the same trigger, not all migraines are effectively dealt with the same way. In fact, effective migraine headache treatment varies from person to person. Here are some common methods that work when treating migraine headaches.

For many people, a migraine headache treatment that works well is one of the over the counter treatments that are available. There are many pain relief products that are specifically made to treat migraine headaches. These products can be very effective for some people.

Another option for migraine headache treatment is to go a physician and get a prescription for a medication that’s specifically designed to help with migraine headaches. If you discuss your migraines with your doctor then he or she will be able to prescribe a medicine that very well might help with your migraines.

There are also many “natural” treatments for migraine headaches. For example, placing a cold compress on your forehead often helps. This might not completely relieve the migraine but it should certainly give temporary relief. The coldness of the compress will help open up the blood vessels and that will help to relieve the pain.

Another “natural” treatment is something that’s called feverfew. Feverfew is an herb that’s been used for hundreds of years to help relieve a variety of pains. As the name suggests, feverfew is also used to reduce fevers. However, historically two of the biggest uses for feverfew have been to relieve pain due to headaches and arthritis. Even today feverfew is known to relieve migraine headaches.

Magnesium is another potential “natural” source of relief for migraine sufferers. Several studies have shown that magnesium does indeed provide relief from migraines. Magnesium is found in foods such as nuts, seeds, whole grains, and green leafy vegetables. Ingesting magnesium on a regular basis may very well cause your migraines to appear less frequently and lessen the severity of migraines when they do occur.

Another way to treat migraine headaches involves prevention. Often the best migraine headache treatment is to stay away from the things that actually triggered the migraine. Food is actually one of the main causes of migraines. Hormonal changes, sensory stimuli, and stress are also major causes of migraines. If a migraine sufferer can figure out what’s causing the migraine headaches then simply avoiding the cause will help stop the migraines.

An effective migraine headache treatment is whatever works for each individual person. Since no two people are alike, it’s up to each person to figure out what causes their migraines and what works in stopping the migraine. While there are many effective medicines on the market, there are also effective natural remedies, In addition, finding what causes a migraine and then avoiding that trigger is the most effective way to deal with migraine headaches. Finding the cause of migraines and finding an effective migraine headache treatment will really help a person deal with their migraines.

If you’ve ever had a migraine headache then you know that it’s one of the most painful things that can happen to you. It can absolutely cripple you from doing anything. But how do you know if you really have a migraine headache? Here are the major symptoms of migraine headaches.

The first major symptom of a migraine headache is a severe pain somewhere in the head. Usually it is toward the front of the head around the forehead area. The pain often radiates throughout the head. Often, once the pain reaches a certain level, nothing will stop it or take it away.

The second of the major symptoms of migraine headaches is sensitivity to light and sound. Even the littlest amount of light or the smallest noise causes the pain in the head to become even more severe. To lessen the migraine as much as possible, the migraine sufferer is forced to lie down in a darkened room with absolutely no sound. While being in a darkened room that is completely quiet doesn’t completely take away the migraine, it does help to keep the pain somewhat manageable.

The last of the three major symptoms of migraine headaches is nausea. Some people who experience migraine headaches get an upset stomach along with the headache. Usually the upset stomach doesn’t occur until the migraine becomes extremely severe. Sometimes the upset stomach leads to vomiting. For some people vomiting takes the migraine away while for others the migraine continues.

The three major symptoms of migraine headaches are a severe headache, extreme sensitivity to light and sound, and nausea. If you have these three symptoms then you are almost definitely experiencing migraine headaches. Migraines are horrible but usually they can be treated. If you think you’re experiencing migraines then you need to seek help to get relief for yourself.

Some of these causes can be avoided while others can’t. Anyone who suffers from migraines should try to figure out what causes the headaches. While there are many potential causes of migraines, most migraines are caused by 1 of 3 major triggers. Here’s a look at the 3 major migraine headache causes.

The first of the 3 major migraine headache causes is food. There are many different foods that trigger migraines in certain people. The two biggest food triggers are red wine and beer. Other foods that are major migraine causes include aged cheeses, processed foods, caffeine, and pickled foods. Also, skipping meals can trigger a migraine headache. A certain food or food group is often the reason a migraine headache is triggered.

Another major cause of migraines is stress. Basic everyday stress usually doesn’t lead to a migraine. However, more stress than usual at work or at home can cause a migraine headache. It’s important for anyone who suffers from migraines to try to avoid overly stressful situations. You should also learn techniques that will help you relieve your stress.

The last of the 3 major migraine headache causes is hormonal changes. This affects women. The exact relationship between hormone levels and migraines isn’t known. However, changes in a woman’s level of estrogen seem to trigger migraines in some women. Therefore, medication that affects the level of estrogen can lead to a migraine headache.

3 major migraine headache causes are food, stress, and hormone levels. If you’re suffering from migraine headaches then you need to discover what’s causing the migraines. You should begin by looking at the 3 main causes. If your migraines aren’t caused by food, stress, or changes in your hormone levels then you’ll need to look deeper at other potential causes.

Migraines can be so bad that they force a person to lie down in a darkened and a completely quiet room. To prevent migraines it’s important to find the cause of the migraines so that they can be prevented. Foods are often the reason migraines are triggered. Here are the major foods that cause migraines.

Two of the biggest foods that cause migraines are red wine and beer. For anyone who likes to have an occasional drink, this is potentially bad news. At least red wine and beer are usually easy to identify as the trigger for a migraine. Also, while beer and red wine are triggers, alcohol usually is not.

Other causes of migraines include processed foods. This means foods with additives like sodium nitrate, MSG (monosodium glutamate), and benzoic acid. Sodium nitrate is found in hotdogs and MSG is in just about any processed food.

Some foods that cause migraines are completely natural. These foods include some beans, nuts, ripe bananas, aged cheeses, chicken livers, dairy products, yeast, peanuts, and peanut butter. Other foods that aren’t quite so natural but are somewhat surprising causes include dried meats, canned soups and powdered soup in packet, sourdough breads, sauerkraut, and champagne.

Caffeine is also a cause of migraines. However, caffeine has also been found to help alleviate migraines for some people. So it is both a cause and a remedy for migraines.

There are many different foods that cause migraines. The exact foods that might cause a migraine for one person probably won’t cause migraines for another person. So if you suffer from migraine headaches then it’s up to you to discover which food or foods might actually trigger migraines in you. The foods mentioned above are the foods that most often cause migraine headaches.
